Hiromi Ichida
In the "Kimono Show" you will be able to see kimonos worn in the different seasons and those worn at ceremonial occasions such as weddings. You will be able to compare these with examples of kimonos worn in the past. There will be a demonstration on how to wear a Kimono and tie the Obi.
After enjoying an early career as an actress Hiromi Ichida's interest in other areas of the artistic world led her to other pursuits. She has succeeded as a hairstylist, fashion critic, essayist, university lecturer, chairperson of the Japanese Kimono Costume Association and Japanese calligrapher.
Hiromi Ichida has a vast collection of clothing, especially 450 pieces of colourful ethnic costumes which, she collected on her travels around the world. She organized, directed and modelled in kimono shows at 101 cities in countries, which included USA, France, Denmark, China, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Germany, Italy for the purpose of introducing Japanese culture.

Koichi Okamoto
The oldest tassel in Japan is the one that was found in an ancient tomb from about 1400 years ago.
It was developed in the Heian era (794~) when the royal court was in its prime and the aristocratic culture was in full flourish. Traditional Kyoto tassels and knots add spice to colourful festivals all around Japan.
Koichi Okamoto was one of the best craftsmen in Kyoto and like other master craftsmen of Kyoto, he is proud of his work and holds uncompromising standards. He is specialized in making tassels and knots for temples, shrines and other ceremonial ornaments. He'll talk about his work.

Katsumi Mori
Katsumi Mori was born in 1944. He worked for the Kawashima Textile Co. He was mainly engaged in designing the weaving machine when the company built a new factory. He also took charge of developing new products, sales and planning projects.
Since 1993, he has been leading the 10-year project of the reconstruction of ancient textiles in the Imperial Museum, Shoso-in. In 1998 he was appointed as the head curator of the Kawashima Textile Museum. He has been researching the Japanese textile interior designing.
In his lecture, he will talk about the craftsmanship of the founder Jimbei Kawashima II.
