Welcome to Japan

We would like to welcome you to the 14th OIDFA World Lace Congress in Kobe, Japan.

Kobe is located about 600km west of Tokyo, the capital city of Japan. With the population of 1.52 million, Kobe is a natural and major seaport. It became an important trading centre with China and other countries and it is of interest to note that lace was exported from Kobe.

Kobe is one of three cities surrounding Kansai International Airport. Osaka is famous for its cuisine; the ancient capital of Kyoto is famous for its historical buildings and fashion, and Kobe is regarded as an exotic city.

Kobe Fashion Museum where the Congress is held is located at the Island Center on Rokko Island, which is the closest point of Kobe to Osaka. It takes 15 minutes from JR Osaka station, you get off at Sumiyoshi station and change to Rokko liner (monorail) and it is the 5th stop. There are shopping malls, department stores, hospitals and hotels around the museum. All the events of the Congress will be held here.

It is the first time for the Congress, which originated in Europe, to be held in Asia.
We would like you to experience Japanese culture. We are very much looking forward to to seeing you all at Kobe Fashion Museum.
